Questions and Answers with Bob Connor
Q: How did you join Clark Machinery Sales?
A: Growing up, my family owned a warehousing and logistics company called Connor Trading Company, which eventually became Locust Industries. I went to work for them as a truck dispatcher after college, and eventually moved from operations to sales. After 46 years, the company closed in 2018. I took some time off and then began looking for work. After trying a few part-time jobs, I saw an ad for Clark Machinery Sales and felt that it would be a good fit given my background. I was hired in June 2022 and have been enjoying working here.
Q: Where did you grow up?
A: I grew up in Catonsville, MD and attended Mount Saint Joseph High School. I have lived in Lutherville, MD for over 30 years now.
Q: Where did you go to college?
A: I got my B.B.A. from Loyola University and played basketball and baseball while I was there.
Q: What are your outside interests?
A: I enjoy playing golf and hope to get back to it soon since I am recovering from a foot injury. I like to follow sports, especially the NBA and college football and basketball. I also belong to several singles clubs and enjoy going out to dinner and listening to live music.
Q: Is there anything else you want people to know about you?
A: I was drafted by the NBA after college. I attended training camp and practiced with the Baltimore Bullets and even played in an exhibition game against the Knicks before being cut. I then played in the Eastern Basketball Association and even had an opportunity to play overseas in Lichtenstein! At that time, I was already working for my father’s company and decided not to move overseas, but it was a great opportunity.
